This morning we started with a walk for Ines and a run for me early in Hamburg and then w/o breakfast to Luebeck. Claudia gave us a city tour, starting with the Holstentor where we of course ran into a Swiss girl to take a photo of us. St. Jakobi church, St. Peter's church.. Buddenbrookhaus where Thomas Mann's family lived.. and Niederegger marcipan and breakfast.. a heavenly start.

11:30 and we drive on to our first task finding Nandus..or in English.. the Greater Rhea which is a bird that usually lives in South America but as we know now.. also in Schattin, Germany. And.. one of our tasks for the week is finding a Dachshound driving our car.. Lotti was excellent in doing so!

The next task is getting a picture of the while houses in Heiligendamm followed by a church for sailors

We decided to take a 'detour' to go to Prora on the island of Rügen. The Colossus of Prora, is a building complex, that was built by Nazi Germany between 1936 and 1939 as a beach resort of the Strength Through Joy project 8km long. Today, a large part was rebuilt as hotels and vacation homes. A beautiful spot on the sea and impressive to see 8km of the monument. You can only walk around it to get to the sea.. for us at 6pm, a possibility to freshen up with walking bare foot along the shore.

We had planned to stop our journey in Binz but we realised that our detour means even more driving on Day 3. Luckily we could cancel our hotel and drive to the shores of Lake Müritz where we finished a long day at 9pm at the Seehotel Weit Meer. They were super nice, having dinner for us ready since we arrived at kitchen closing time. A G&T was just as important as food.

Day 2- having driven now 747km on the rally
